X axis DRO for the Harbor Freight 12 speed drill-mill |
I was able to add the x-axis dro without having to do any drilling on the drill/mill.
Parts made were right and left end mounts for the scale, and a replacement
for the center table stop. |
The end pieces mount in the table travel stop slot on the front of the table.
The new tablestop mount uses the existing mounting holes in the base. |
I decided to mount the DRO readout at an angle to make for easier reading. |
I used an 8 in horizontal DRO and the total table x-axis travel is 9in. With
care in adjusting the end mounting I was able to get a little over 8.5 in travel.
The cost difference between an 8 in. and 12 in. DRO units was
well worth the small loss of total travel. |
